Learning Outcome 3: Active Reading
The goal of this learning outcome for students is to be able to look at a text and actively read, take notes, and critically think about the material being read.
Through this class, we have learned to actively read through the many different scholarly articles that we have covered. For example, Carol Dweck gave a TED talk, and we read and annotated the transcript of her talk. She talked about different approaches to education. Looking back through homework assignments from the past, I looked at a reading response homework for Dweck. This shows the ability to actively read and annotate a scholarly article. From the homework, I said “Dweck spoke about after failing a test what the people in the test group did next, the growth mindset people “engage deeply. They process the error. They learn from it and they correct it.” A Growth mindset is a developing and positive mindset. ” This shows my understanding of a quote from Dwecks TED talk and proves that I had to use active reading skills to answer reading questions.
